Rainbow in My Head-Wellington 1 October
This one day Early Childhood Workshop Day brings together early childhood educators, including parents. I will be presenting 3 workshops during the day. The first one with Erin Devlin (Uniquely Kiwi) titled: "Rhyming: An essential preliteracy skill in early childhood." Strategies to assist tamariki discover rhyme through poems, books and puppets.Using rhythm and rhyme as important learning tools with language and literacy links to formal learning.Includes puppetry skills and Kiwana story and rhyme enactments. It is exciting to team with Te Taumata to present this workshop for early childhood and reception class teachers. It is held at Tunohopu Marae, Ohinemutu, and the wonderful, rich history of the area and community, provide a background for teachers to explore this area, weaving in the culture, identity and language.
